While Sydney is known for its beachside views and tropical climate, it’s not going to stop you from having the best Christmas celebration. And if you’re searching for a wonderful Christmas venue to spark that Holiday joy, you’re in the right place! Tagvenue has gathered all the best restaurants, apartments and function rooms for hire in the city to help you pick the best option for your party, all from the comfort of your home.
Date - When is your party going to take place? The most common date for Christmas in July is the 25th, but it’s not quite set in stone. If you can’t do it on that day, any time in that neighbourhood will do. Just make sure to inform your venue manager that this is a Christmas-themed party so that they can set up their decorations for you, or let you set up the venue yourself.
Amount of people - How many people are going to attend your holiday party? Sydney gives you an opportunity to arrange a space for pretty much any amount of people you need. However, you should keep your needs and budget in mind. Sometimes it’s better to have a smaller party with more of an intimate atmosphere. If you’re looking specifically for smaller party venues, maybe you should check out this page to find more?
Location - What is the best place in Sydney for your party? If you want to figure out where the party should take place, you should first ask the guests where they are going to commute from. If you all live in the same neighbourhood, it’s probably best to look somewhere close to where you are, but if you have people coming over from different cities, or even countries, maybe the CBD would suit you better?
If you need inspiration, here’s a list of our favourite areas for Christmas in July parties:
Parking - How much parking are you going to need? While you can try to use public transport to get to your Christmas venue, it’s not always possible to do so. This may be a problem if you have friends or family coming over from a different city. While you can hope there's public parking nearby, you may also use our filter to only look for venues with available private parking.
Decorations - Since snow is out of the question, how are you going to get yourself into the Christmas mood? With decorations, of course! Whether you would like to go with a classic, red, white and green theme, or do something outside the box, you should check for a couple things. First, ask the venue manager if they already have a set of Christmas lights and decorations. If they have some photos for you to check out, that’s even better. But if you want to make your own decor, you should make sure that the manager is okay with it.
Additional amenities - Depending on your vision of this Christmas party, you may need completely different facilities from your venue. A dinner party with the most famous holiday dishes is a classic, but who said it’s the only option? If you’d like to do some dancing, you can get a room with a sound system and additional space for activities. How about hiring a space with a big projector and doing a Christmas-themed watch party? Karaoke is getting super popular around Christmas, too. Make your imagination run crazy!
Hourly hire fees for venues that organise Christmas in July start at around AU$100 for small venues and lounges and can reach around AU$3000 per hour for spectacular boats and spaces. (All data from Tagvenue.)
This mainly depends on the amount of guests and on what you want to do with your venue. For less than 15 people, you want to get a private room in a restaurant, club or a hotel. You can’t really go wrong with small cafes or restaurants, either. If you want to save money while having lots of flexibility with your layout, maybe a blank canvas space would work for you? As your guest count increases, we would recommend a dining hall or restaurant with an appropriate amount of seats.
If the venue has a sound system and you have the whole place to yourself - why not? Just be sure to turn the volume down if you’re partying at night. However, it’s always best to ask the venue manager about the terms and conditions of the venue before you confirm your booking.
You should start searching for your venue as early as possible. If you want to make sure that you secure the venue of your choice, experience has taught us that you should start finalising your booking at least 6 months in advance. So start your search around January.
