Your Guide to Hiring Wedding Venues in Brisbane

Do you fancy a picturesque riverside spot along the North Quay? A bustling restaurant  on Elizabeth and Edward Street? Or perhaps a yacht  on Moreton Bay? You can have it all. After all, Brisbane is a fun city, with plenty of diverse and attractive spots for a wedding. Not sure where to begin your search? We’ve broken down some of Brisbane’s best areas for a wedding:

  • CBD – Located right at the heart of the business action, the CBD houses sleek, stylish and well-organised wedding venues. If you’re looking for a fancy and upmarket setting for your wedding, this area offers  beautifully decorated venues overlooking the docks. The area around Turbot Street is dotted with beautiful function spaces and banqueting halls for hundreds of people. Head a bit south towards Botanic Gardens to see even more options, including modern hotel spaces and trendy bars with waterfront views.
  • South Brisbane – South of the Brisbane River, you’ll find stylish wedding venues, featuring bespoke rooms for crowds of all sizes. These range from large ballrooms to intimate dining rooms and terraces. South Brisbane’s West End, especially the area around Musgrave Park, is full of charming restaurants that often host wedding receptions. South Brisbane is generally considered greener and calmer than the northern parts of the city. If this is the vibe you’re looking for, you’re definitely going to love it!
  • Fortitude Valley – Brisbane’s entertainment district, Fortitude Valley is full of versatile and trendy venues that are adaptable and ready to  host  a wedding. Featuring both large function rooms and more intimate secret bars and acclaimed restaurants, this area is ideal for couple’s looking for something imaginative and unique. For the highlights of the area, focus your search around Brunswick Street.
  • Riverside – With the Brisbane river winding through the city, many fantastic venues in beautiful waterside locations have targeted the wedding market. These open, versatile and picturesque settings, are idyllic locations for a wedding. Boasting plenty of natural light and able to fit for a great number of invitees, they’re also incredibly functional. Some of the best ones are located in Kangaroo Point and near Portside Wharf.
  • Brisbane Airport – Around Brisbane Airport, you’ll also come across some nice opportunities, such as 5-star hotels and conference centres. Expecting wedding guests coming from abroad? This location also allows you to welcome international arrivals with relative ease. If you’re looking for effective, well-prepared and well-connected wedding venues, the Brisbane Airport area is a great choice.

With the variety of different spaces on offer, expect a wide range of different prices and payment methods. Rest assured, there are plenty of bargains available, as well as the option to go all out. In South Brisbane, venues tend to operate with minimum spend, which can be up to $20,000, or as low as $3500. You can also find per person rates at $65 per guest. In the CBD, minimum spend is also popular, starting as low as $500, but going up to $3500 to $7000, depending on the day of the week. Venues also offer a straight-up hire fee at the $1500 mark. In Fortitude Valley, choose from a range of pricing, including $100 to $119 per person fees, $3000 to $5000 minimum spend, and $900 hire fees. Finally, riverside venues can go up to $10,000, but usually lie between 3500 to $7000, while per person fees are found at $55 to $75.

FAQs about Wedding Venues in Brisbane

How many people can I invite to my wedding in Brisbane?

Whether you want a micro wedding and plan to invite under 50 or a full-blown extravaganza with all your friends and family Tagvenue has the wedding venue you are looking for. We’ve checked out venues left right and centre and it seems that the maximum number of guests you can invite is roughly 450. And of course if you want to go extra small and invite a max of 10 people, there are venues perfect for that as well. (All data from Tagvenue.com.)

What are some great wedding themes for my wedding in Brisbane?

If you're looking for ideas, we've got some great ones for you:

-A modern take on classic elegance with black and white accents, or a bold colour palette like reds and oranges.

-A tropical theme with palm trees, beach balls, and a sunset backdrop.

-A whimsical forest scene complete with unicorns and fairies that can't wait to dance the night away with you.

-A winter wonderland complete with fake snow as your guests sip hot chocolate and watch the sunset over the beautiful Brisbane skyline.

What are the best months to get married in Brisbane?

It all depends on what type of weather you wish to have for your big day. December through to February offer a great hot climate, but remember that these months get very warm, and you might not want to get married in a climate where all your makeup is dripping off within minutes of doing it. The winters actually offer quite mild temperatures–between 14 to 21 degrees–so maybe looking into the months of June and July won’t be such a bad thing? Plus there’s not too much rainfall. But maybe wait until September when it starts to get warmer again? The peak season is in November and March, so if you want to avoid the most wanted times of the year, we suggest you check out other months to book in a more budget-friendly way!

Booked The Harem at Ovolo The Valley
5.0
We held our wedding ceremony in the Harem room at The Ovolo Fortitude Valley. Everything about the event surpassed our expectations - the room was wonderful, the catering was great (and we had more food than we needed), but the service was particularly exceptional. The staff were attentive, considerate and ensured that our guests were comfortable at all times. We were absolutely thrilled with how it went. Thank you!
