Berthing Deck at Pier Gallery
About this space
The Pier Gallery Event Space is in located on the Berthing Deck of of Brooke Street Pier. The Event Space itself encompasses the entire Berthing Deck area with access via stairs and elevators.
Designed by Architectural firm CIRCA Morris Nunn, Brooke Street Pier is Australia’s only multi-story floating pier – the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere. Part building, part boat – 80m long and 20m wide, the entire structure rises and falls with the tide.
The structure’s ‘foundation’ consists of 4200 tonnes of floating concrete – most of which sits below the waterline.
Built locally (five nautical miles upriver) and towed into place by two tugboats, the building was officially opened in January, 2015.
During the day the Berthing Deck is a transit point for the Mona Ferry and Derwent Ferry services.

About Pier Gallery
Entertain your guests in the belly of the Berthing Deck, surrounded by art, architecture and a entirely unique view of Hobart's waterfront.
The lightweight transparent skin of the Brooke Street Pier acts like a conservatory in creating a passively heated indoor environment. This translucent skin also fills the Berthing Deck, where our gallery and event space is located bathed in beautiful soft, filtered, natural light.
At night the building is cosily enclosed whilst remaining open to the lights and hum of Hobart's waterfront.
