  • Winter stilt walkers for a magical touch
  • A roaming Ebenezer Scrooge to bring some Dickensian drama
  • Ice sculptors crafting holiday masterpieces live at your event
  • Fun Christmas games are also a wonderful way to break the ice and encourage guests to mingle.

Christmas Party Planning Tips And Tricks

  • Secure your party venue early, as the top locations in London book out fast, especially corporate Christmas party venues. After booking your private space, send out invitations as soon as possible, as diaries fill up quickly at this time of year.
  • Ask for a menu tasting. This step is especially important for planning a private Christmas dinner or hosting a large party.
  • Check whether the venue is willing to clean up afterwards or if there are additional fees for that service.
  • Consider throwing a themed private party (like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Nightmare Before Christmas, or Christmas Around the World) or holding a festive competition (like best Christmas jumper or best achievement of the year). You can even consider organising a party with unique Christmas Party themes.

What to know when booking a Christmas party venue

  • Your budget - figure out if you’re looking for a cheap Christmas party venue or something more upscale, like a fine-dining holiday experience.
  • Your guest list - If you’re planning a Christmas party for 50 or 500 guests, your chosen private venue should be just the right size for the number of guests you anticipate.
  • The atmosphere - do you need something casual, like a local Christmas restaurant or pub, or something a little more upscale, like a wine bar or private members’ club? There are plenty of different venues in London to pick from!
  • The sound system - don’t forget to create a Christmas party playlist before the day to make the atmosphere pop!
  • Entertainment options - remember to speak to the venue manager about what you have in mind, if it’s setting up a festive photo booth, hiring a live band or having Father Christmas come to visit.
  • Additional fees - check if any cancellation fees or other extra costs apply and make sure you can fit them into your budget.

Before making a booking, check out our list of essential questions to ask the venue manager!

Christmas Party Planning Mistakes to Avoid

Make sure you avoid these common mistakes to keep your celebration stress-free and unforgettable!

  • Waiting too long to plan – The holiday season is one of the busiest times of the year. Start planning at least a couple of months in advance to secure the best venues.
  • Hosting the party at the office – No matter how much tinsel you put up, an office still feels like work. From christmas party venues in the city of london, to those in Shroditech or Soho, there are many options to choose from.
  • Choosing the wrong venue – Make sure the space matches the vibe of your event. A fancy restaurant might not be the best fit for a wild Christmas party, and a large hall could feel too empty for an intimate family gathering.
  • Serving the wrong drinks – Upgrade from a standard open bar with themed drinks! Try sparkling wine for a drinks reception, craft beer or fine wine for dinner, and festive cocktails for the after-party. And don’t forget non-alcoholic options for those who aren’t drinking.
  • Not serving enough food – No matter if it’s a buffet or a sit-down meal, make sure there’s plenty to go around. If your party starts right after work, expect guests to arrive hungry!

Fun Festive Feast Ideas On A Budget

Whether it's a corporate bash or a private Christmas party with your friends, the clinking of glasses and the aroma of delicious food are essential ingredients (but pricey) to any magical holiday celebration. This year, take your festive feast to the next level while saving some money. Let's explore some fun and budget-friendly ideas!

  • A potluck is a classic choice. Encourage your guests to bring their favourite holiday dish or dessert, and set up a table with themed decorations and holiday music! For more inspirations on potluck themes, check our 10 Christmas Potluck Party Ideas!
  • Buffets are also a great way to save money while still offering a variety of delicious options for your guests. London has many event venues like Lumiere London Shoreditch Loft near Hoxton Square and Christmas restaurants such as The Lady Ottoline in Bloomsbury, where you can choose a holiday buffet option.
  • Instead of serving a full meal, consider opting for a selection of finger foods like mini sliders, stuffed mushrooms, or bruschetta. They encourage mingling and socialising among your guests. Little Bat Bar & Kitchen in quaint Islington and The Princess of Wales near vibrant Camden Town are examples of Xmas party venues that offer various festive finger foods.
  • If you're hosting a large-scale holiday event, create food stations with traditional holiday treats like hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies to give your guests a Christmas market atmosphere! By hiring a spacious warehouse such as a plantroom in Hackney Wick or an outdoor venue with space like The Derby Rooftop near King's Cross Station, you can organise an unconventional Christmas party that is lots of fun!
  • Get your team involved! Host a gingerbread house decorating competition, where teams can showcase their creativity and bond over the holiday spirit. It may not be a filling meal, but everyone's hearts will be filled with joy and laughter!

Remember, the merriment is in the details, not the price tag. With a little planning and creativity, you can throw a truly festive London Christmas party that fits your budget perfectly.

Booked Full Venue Hire at TATTU London
5.0
Our Christmas party at TATTU was truly exceptional. Martyna’s communication and coordination were outstanding from start to finish, ensuring the entire planning process was seamless The venue itself is a showstopper - absolutely stunning and perfect for a highly chic festive celebration. The food and drinks exceeded all expectations, both in quality and presentation The staff were incredibly professional, attentive, and contributed greatly to the success of the event. Every guest has a wonderful experience, and the feedback from my colleagues has been overwhelmingly positive Highly recommend both working with Martyna and the venue to host an unforgettable event!

Booked Backstage Basement at The Spice of Life - Soho
4.1
We recently hosted our Christmas party at this venue, and while the overall experience had some positives, the buffet was extremely disappointing. At £30 per person, we expected a substantial and satisfying spread for our 50 guests. However, the buffet did not live up to expectations. The food portions were very limited, with only one small piece of food per dish per person, which left many of us still hungry by the end of the event. This hardly resembled what we expected from a buffet, especially considering the price. On a positive note, the staff were excellent. They were very hands-on, helping us set up the venue and preparing drinks at the bar quickly. Their attentiveness was definitely appreciated and made the overall experience better, but the lack of food quality and quantity was a major letdown. I would recommend this venue if you're looking for a well-organized event with great service, but be cautious if you're planning a buffet. The food offering did not justify the cost, and unfortunately, that took away from what should have been a great night. Would I return? Possibly, but I’d look into alternative food options first.

This place was absolutely amazing ! Hosted my works Christmas party here. Firstly, the space is absolutely gorgeous - we hired out the orangery and it was perfect for 50-60 People. Room for a band, tables and chairs and to dance. The Entire team of staff were wonderful - helpful, organised and great fun! The food was amazing, we went for the Christmas ‘buffet’ which was reasonably priced and went down a treat. Everyone had a fantastic time and complimented the staff, food and the beautiful space. Thank you for having us !

Booked The Snail Bar at L'Escargot
5.0
Had an amazing work christmas party at L'escargot snail bar. Was so nice having our own private room, with bathrooms right next to it, it's own little bar where we could decide in advance what drinks we could have available. The food was lovely and a good quantity. We were allowed to bring our own speakers and play our own music. A pianist came half way through and played for a couple of hours, which we actually didn't realise was part of the evening, was a nice touch, although would have been better if we'd known in advance so we could decide if it was actually right for our event. Overall eveyone had a fantastic evening, and the bar staff were excellent.

Booked Games Hall at The Joiner on Worship
5.0
Our experience was exceptional from start to finish - from the procurement and booking stages, to planning and execution. The team were incredibly flexible to our requirements and nothing was too much trouble - every single member of staff we met throughout the process was super helpful and friendly! The team were proactive about making sure our requests were always taken care of, both in the lead up and on the night itself, and it couldn't have been easier to get in touch with our main contact to ask questions and make arrangements when we needed to. The space we had on the night was perfect in terms of size and decorations and the Gaming Room went down a treat - everyone in our team agrees that it was our best Christmas Party ever! Thank you so much to everyone who made it such a huge success. You're all wonderful!

Booked Martha's Bar at The Washington
5.0
Very happy with everything! Such a great place for a private venue. We had Martha's bar booked for the whole day and everyone working there went an extra mile to make sure we had a great time! Food was excellent and we have had comments from our colleagues that they really enjoyed it. Jenny was our host at the bar for the evening and she was great. It makes a difference to have someone with a big smile on their face doing everything to make sure you enjoy your night! Overall, thank you Antonia, Eric, Jenny & Steve for accommodating our needs, letting us choose the menu and modify it as we wanted and for a very memorable event!

Booked The Basement at The Phoenix
4.8
Katie, the venue manager, did a fantastic job at organising our work Christmas party at The Phoenix. She was very helpful and friendly and communication was quick. The staff on the day were also very polite, efficient and ready to help (e.g. when the photo booth didn't initially start up - luckily it did in after 20 minutes!). The venue size was good for our party of around 130 people - it felt cosy but not too packed. Decorations were festive with some Santa hats, crackers and an Xmas tree. We had buffet catering which was very tasty and worked well for the venue layout & party size. There were booths and also tables scattered around so people could sit and eat. After dinner the staff quickly cleared the area so we could start dancing.
