When it comes to garden party venues London has a vast offer, from the traditional to the quirky and everything in between. Here you can find rooftop terraces and gardens with panoramic views of the city. For a classic afternoon tea party, you can browse through botanical gardens or lawns. You can find gardens for hire in museums or galleries as well. In London, you are even able to find winter gardens, so you can have garden parties all year long.

Garden party venues are a great backdrop for any kind of event. Using a garden space you can host a birthday celebration or an afternoon tea party. During summer time it’s a great idea to organise a BBQ for your company or to launch a new product in natural surroundings. Gardens make for a great wedding venue as well. Any family function can also be elevated if hosted in a garden venue.

With how unpredictable weather in London can be, most garden venues are prepared in case of rain. They usually offer an indoor space to move your function to or are ready with umbrellas or a retractable roof to be used in case of rain. To be sure you are not surprised by the elements, before making your final booking consult with the venue manager about the back up plan for rainy weather.

Your Guide to Hiring Garden Party Venues in London

To organise a great pIs there any better way to enjoy the English summer than with a gorgeous outdoor celebration? The warm weather coupled with good food, drink and friends in gardens of all shapes and sizes is a great experience for kids, adults, and families alike. Whether you’re planning a birthday celebration, a classic afternoon party or a team-building activity, there are some things to consider when browsing private gardens for hire in London:

Your budget: Make sure the venue you’re hiring and everything that you’re planning fits within your budget. Some venues offer special package deals or operate on a minimum-spend basis, so you’re sure to find something at the right price point.

arty not only for your guests but also for yourself, make sure the venue you’re hiring and everything that you’re planning fits within your budget. Some venues offer special package deals or operate on a minimum-spend basis, so you’re sure to find something at the right price point.

Menu options. A garden party goes hand in hand with fresh fruit, refreshing drinks, and light snacks. Before you hire your venue, investigate the menu options. Also make sure it can be adjusted to fit your guests’ dietary needs. If the venue doesn’t offer in-house catering and you need to hire an external provider, ask the venue manager whether they have any preferred suppliers.

Ease of accessibility. As beautiful and enchanting as the garden you chose may be, don’t forget the needs of your guests. Have you invited any elderly guests or any one who may require mobility assistance? Walking on uneven ground or accessing a rooftop garden may make attending difficult. So before you make your final booking, verify that the venue offers full access to its facilities.

Time of the event. With the always-too-short English summers, you want to make the most of the heat and sun, but scheduling your event during the hottest part of the day may not be the best idea. Try to choose a time when the sun won’t be too strong. If you can’t move the event time, provide shade, and cold, refreshing drinks for your guests to cool down.

Lighting. Light is key for when you plan your event to carry on into the evening. You want a “laid back party” atmosphere, not a “survival in the jungle” one (unless that’s what you’re going for!). See if you can add paper lanterns, or fairy lights to elevate the atmosphere of the party as well as add the extra illumination.

What is included in the hire of the venue. Check what furniture or other garden party rentals, like linen or umbrellas, are included in the venue hire. If you’re planning on playing music during your event check the venue’s policy on that as well, and find out what equipment is available for you to use. If the venue doesn’t provide any \thing, ask if you can bring your own.

Back up plan for rain. Planning an event ahead of time has one disadvantage: you can’t schedule the weather. So prepare a backup plan in case it rains on the day of your garden party. Ask the venue whether they will have space for you to move inside or if they can provide umbrellas to hide under.

Consider local amenities. Think about where your venue is located in relation to public transport or parking options. If guests are coming from out of town or public transport isn’t readily available, make sure there are enough parking spaces or provide details about how to get to the venue easily.

Sound and noise considerations. Pay attention to any noise restrictions at the venue, especially if you're planning a party with music or dancing. Some venues may have specific sound limits, so confirm this beforehand to avoid any disruptions during the event.

Restroom facilities. While it’s easy to focus on the aesthetics and catering, make sure your venue has adequate restroom facilities, especially if you expect a larger crowd. For outdoor events, check if there are sufficient portable toilets, and if they’ll be cleaned during the event.

The type of event. Depending on the nature of your event, you will be considering different types of venues. A garden wedding would usually require a larger space and perhaps a dancing area. For a kids’ birthday party you would look for a family-friendly spot. A corporate party place should probably have an outdoor bar area as well. With Tagvenue’s smart search engine, finding the right venue for your event should not be a problem, but if you’re still struggling to find your perfect one look at some of our suggestions:

Kid-Friendly Garden Parties in London

Organising a kid-friendly garden party is a great way to celebrate in London. Here are some simple tips to make sure your event is fun for kids and stress-free for adults:

  • Venue: Choose a safe, secure venue with fenced or enclosed gardens to let kids roam freely. Look for shaded areas and on-site facilities like toilets and baby changing stations.
  • Entertainment: Hire entertainers such as magicians or face painters, or set up a craft station or a 'mini-beast' hunt to keep kids engaged.
  • Decor: Keep it simple and safe with durable decorations like balloons and paper garlands. Avoid fragile items or small parts that could be hazardous.
  • Menu: Serve easy-to-eat finger foods like fruit skewers and fun-shaped sandwiches. Consider a DIY ice cream or sundae station for a treat, and provide plenty of drinks to keep kids hydrated.
  • Comfort for Adults: Provide seating for parents to relax while keeping an eye on their kids. Offering a separate adult menu adds extra comfort.
  • Safety: Ensure the garden is free of hazards and keep a first aid kit nearby. Designate an adult for any accidents.
  • Party Favours: Send kids home with garden-themed favours like seed packets or small plants to encourage a love for nature.
  • Weather Plans: Be prepared for rain by checking if the venue has an indoor space or renting a marquee for shelter.

Outdoor spaces are perfect for weddings year-round, whether you're dreaming of a winter fairytale with snow falling softly around a marquee, an autumn celebration surrounded by the stunning beauty of changing leaves, or a summer event where kids can run freely, guests can dine and dance under the stars, and everyone can enjoy the warmth of the season. What a great team. Damian couldn’t have made the process of planning the party easier. Then on the day, the bar staff were fantastic. Friendly and helpful, several guests made a point of telling me how lovely they had been. The space is great, enjoyed the pool table, darts, and courtyard garden. Then after a few refreshments the queue for the karaoke began to form.... Great night, thanks to all the team.
