Quickly becoming the most sought after area in the pub, the back bar (known as the shed) offers an entirely unique and unmatched space, suitable to a wide array of functions/events. Constructed in 1864, the original purpose of the shed was as a horse stables. Since then it has gone through many changes of functionality, from Trade Union rally point of Jim Larkin in the 1910s, to Ireland’s first ever department store, Guineys, which opened in 1971. Despite all of the faces that the shed has seen come and go throughout the years, it has undoubtedly managed to retain its unique character and charm, visible in distinctive architectural features such as its Belfast roof (one of the only four remaining in Ireland).

The shed is available for private rental which would include the use of a number of our facilities:

Catering
For large groups we offer either a set menu or a range of platters. Further information available upon request.

Private bar
Fully stocked bar with a wide range of draught and spirits, manned by regular staff, ensuring the highest standard of service.

Sound System

Private Music Hire

Alternatively, you are more than welcome to bring in your own professional musician at no extra cost.
