The Marquee at Hamswell House
Outdoor Space at an Event Venue · Private space
About this space
A marquee in the garden of a historic manor house is a wonderfully romantic setting for your wedding breakfast. It can comfortably accommodate a sit-down meal up to 240 guests.
We do not hold two marquee wedding receptions on the same weekend, so you can decorate and personalise the custom-built marquee the day before to make it truly yours.
The gardens and the backdrop of the house make the perfect setting for your wedding photographs. You and your guests are free to explore the walled gardens, pergola and terraced herb garden.
You can hold the ceremony inside the beautiful 18th Century Orangery with its Cotswold stone roof and huge arch windows. The Orangery can seat 40 inside. Any additional guests can watch and listen to the short ceremony from outside on the lawn.
If there is a risk of showers, the marquee company can erect a large awning on the lawn so your guests can enjoy the glorious gardens without getting wet.

About Hamswell House
At Hamswell House, you have not only the fabulous walled gardens and the backdrop of a historic manor house but breathtaking views and a convenient location near Bath and Bristol. A marquee in the garden of a beautiful country house is the first choice for a romantic wedding reception.
Hamswell House as it stands today is the 16th century with 17th and 18th-century remodelling. The early Jacobean façade with its elaborate carved stone portico is a fine example of the English Renaissance. The garden façade is Queen Anne with a stone shell hood on brackets carved with acanthus leaves and beasts above the door.
The orangery in the grounds is the 18th century with high arched windows and a Cotswold stone roof. The extensive gardens are terraced with a network of decorative stone walls and feature a pergola, a herb garden, a kitchen garden and traditional greenhouses. The house is set in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the end of a long drive.
