About this space

This is a slightly smaller open-plan room with lots of natural light and is named after Bristol civil rights campaigner Paul Stephenson. It can be used for away-days, breakout sessions and large meetings. It comes equipped with built in “plug and play” projector, screen and speakers.

Days can be booked on a full day or half day rate. Please note that we are only able to hire out this venue outside of term time when students are on their holidays, please see our key dates here: http://www.bris.ac.uk/university/dates/#academic

No catering available, cannot be booked for music gigs/concerts or weddings.

Host rules

The Client is responsible for providing adequate insurance and liability cover for their event, including Public Liability insurance where appropriate.

The Union shall not in any circumstances be liable for damage to or loss of any property, vehicles, articles or things whatsoever placed or left upon the premises by the client or by any person attending the function, howsoever such loss or damage may be caused.

The Client will be liable for any damage, wilful or accidental, sustained by the buildings, floor, furniture or fittings, during the hiring.  Any articles owned by the Union which are lost or go missing from the rooms during the period of hire will be invoiced to the Client.

Full details of the purpose of the hire, the speakers or performers and the expected attendees must be provided to the Union.  The Union reserves the right to decline any application for hire.

The Client undertakes responsibility for control of their guests or invitees, and for all activities undertaken by them. The Client must be present throughout the period of hire. 

If the premises are used for any other purpose than those stated in the confirmation of booking, or if any function becomes disorderly, or any disturbance, nuisance, indecent or unlawful or undesirable activity is allowed to occur, the Union may at its absolute discretion, immediately terminate the hiring.   In the event of such termination, all fees and charges will be forfeited.

The Client is reminded of their responsibilities for the health, safety and welfare at work of its staff and contractors engaged to undertake activities on the premises.

If the premises are used for any other purpose than those stated in the confirmation of booking, or if any function becomes disorderly, or any disturbance, nuisance, indecent or unlawful or undesirable activity is allowed to occur, the Union may at its absolute discretion, immediately terminate the hiring and all fees and charges will be forfeited.

The Richmond Building is the home of Bristol SU and our spaces. Situated on Queens Road in Clifton, the Richmond Building is easily accessible to the city centre and other areas of the city via car, foot, and bus.

In 2015, the Richmond building opened after a £30 million revamp and now offers a large event space in the Anson Rooms, two theatres, two bars and a variety of multi-purpose activity rooms. It is a unique facility within the city that offers a wide range of spaces to meet the needs of any event.
