About this space

Our light and airy rehearsal space is available for hire.
It’s a fantastic, low-cost venue for theatre company rehearsals and filming. Available for hire 7 days a week.

Playing space: 4m x 7.3m
Insulated floor
Double glazed windows with black-out blinds
Piano, sofa and chairs
Access to a kitchen with sink, microwave, kettle, fridge
Green screen and white/black background rollers
Jigsaw matting and basic physio equipment
Speakers and audio jack
A costume cupboard
Lights are on dimmer switches but are not full theatre lights – we are able to source some lighting and gels on request at a small additional cost. The room is not suitable for band rehearsals and unfortunately the only access points into the building is via 5 steps.

There is a sliding scale based on frequency, duration, and scope of the project/organisation. Please contact us for rates and availability.

Host rules

The space is kept affordable as we work in a voluntary capacity. There is no cleaner etc, so please ensure you:

Turn off any heaters
Shut any windows
Tidy up the kitchen areas after usage
Dispose of any rubbish or food waste
Make sure you tidy up after any participant or actor you are responsible for
Keep all communal areas generally tidy

And you hire the spaces under the understanding that you are responsible for your own PLI and risk assessments for your own activity.

About Tit for Tat

We run two not-for-profit spaces alongside our own touring work, in an effort to keep creation spaces at comparatively low rates so that artists can afford to make work.

Our smaller studio space is 7.3m x 4m of playing space with low ceilings, with kitchen facilities, a separate sofa area, black out blinds, backdrops, and insulated floors.

Our larger creation space is 12.5m x 7m with a high sloped roof (5.9m at its apex, 3m at the lowest wall edge), with kitchen facilities, matting available, stage flats, and a solid concrete floor. Its height and solid floor make it more suitable to dynamic circus skills or large theatrical sets.
