About this space
You may have a larger event in mind, for example, a multi-space training day, book launch, seminar, AGM or corporate event. Both of our meeting rooms are included in a whole building booking and can be used as breakout spaces, green rooms or to serve food. Our capacity for this kind of events is 50 (we can accommodate an audience of 50 seated theatre style on the Mezzanine level).
For a full-building standing event, such as a corporate launch with drinks being served, we can accommodate up to 100 people. With sufficient notice, we can close the building to the public for your event (if it takes place during our regular opening hours).
The Mezzanine is our large events space on the first floor of the Library. Our rolling stacks can easily be moved to provide a theatre-style space. With chairs in rows, the Mezzanine can accommodate up to 50 audience members. Seating for smaller groups can also be arranged in different formations (we have flexible-use desks available). We have 55″ and 65″ UHD screens, as well as a lectern, clip-on and handheld microphones, amplification and audio/video recording. A hearing loop is fitted around the space. The Mezzanine is perfect for poetry readings, presentations, book launches, workshops or live music events. The Mezzanine has good ventilation and air circulation and an outside terrace (weather-dependent).
The SPL has a large audience on social media and we can sometimes help to promote your event or sell tickets via Eventbrite.

About Scottish Poetry Library
The world's only independent, purpose-built poetry library is in a unique and beautiful building in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. 2 minutes away from the Scottish Parliament and 10 10-minute walk from Waverley Station.
We can accommodate meetings, away days, presentations, events, book launches, press conferences and many other options. We have two meeting rooms (10 and 8 capacity), a mezzanine (up to 50 theatre style), or up to 100 for a standing reception. We have full AV facilities including radio mics, 4K screens and a bar.
