The Drawing Room at The Butterfly and The Pig
Dining Room in a Restaurant · Private space
About this space
Leading up our grand spiral staircase you’ll find The Drawing Room, which has been carefully restored to enhance the character and design of our Georgian Townhouse.
With two grand windows looking out onto Bath Street, this intimate space is bathed in natural light during the day transforming into a cosy space in the evening. Like the rest of our decor, this room is filled with mismatched crockery, vintage artwork and a piano that’s been reworked into a coffee bar.
Available for private hire throughout the day, every day, allowing you to book in for afternoon tea or lunch, or choose from one of our set menus for a sit-down meal and drinks in the evening. Suitable for any occasion for up to 40 guests we’ve hosted our fair share of hen parties, baby showers, afternoon tea parties, weddings, retirements, murder mystery events - you name it we’ve done it!
Take it as it comes or dress the room how you see fit, we're here to make sure your event runs smoothly, with a dedicated events person to take you through the process from start to finish so you can relax and enjoy your event.
And if you’re looking for a group activity, or something a little fun to do before (or after) your meal then book in for our cocktail masterclass. Includes the making (and drinking) of two cocktails and can accommodate a minimum of 12 guests and a maximum of 20.

True to the poem that inspired our name; The butterfly and the pig is a love story forged between a graceful butterfly and a clumsy, big-hearted pig. The pig represents our pub and restaurant while the butterfly represents our Tea Rooms and so our general ethos is that the unlikely pair is just as beautiful as the matching one.
Situated in the heart of the City Centre, our carefully restored Georgian townhouse features multiple venues with their own style; comprised of a restaurant, tea room, bar, nightclub and private function rooms we are a “one-stop-shop” for all of your eating and entertainment needs - and have been for almost two decades now.
Our restaurant, located in the basement, serves classic and traditional cuisine made from scratch and sourced locally. The bar is a relaxed space during the day with the evenings full of entertainment and a gantry stocked with Scottish cask ales, beers, whiskey, wine, spirits and cocktails.
The Tea Rooms and private meeting rooms take up the majority of our traditional townhouse. On entering the foyer you’ll find our quaint tearooms serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, with our private dining rooms located up the spiral staircase. Our function rooms vary in size and can accommodate group bookings of 10-50 people, with a variety of menus to suit all tastes and budgets. Whether you’re looking for breakfast, lunch, dinner or afternoon tea - we have a package to suit you.
And if that wasn’t enough, we have a late-night nightclub situated to the rear of our property, where you can finish your evening with a drink The Buff Low Café or dance the night away to funk and soul in The Buff Club. All of our function bookings will receive free entry to the club, perfect for those who aren’t ready to go home just yet!
From dawn til dusk the Butterfly and the Pig offers a professional but unique service that will bring character and charm to your event.
