About The Starting Gate
Built in 1875 and now Grade II listed, The Starting Gate’s name is true to the pub’s origins as the starting point of the former Alexandra Park Racecourse, colloquially known as ‘The Frying Pan’ on account of its shape.
With traditional stained wood interior, sumptuous Victorian period features and contemporary touches, The Starting Gate is dog-friendly and boasts a charming courtyard beer garden for those milder months.
