About this space
The Old Courtroom is our largest space and can comfortably fit 40 -50 guests sat theatre or 80+ standing. The space has an array of original features including beautiful iron-framed windows and original timber flooring. The space has a vast ceiling height which adds to a sense of spaciousness and is fully fitted for hybrid events.
The Old Courtroom houses a large altar of the Buddha, placed where a judge would have once sat. The space was visited by The Dalai Lama who gave his blessing on a previous visit to the UK.

Host rules
Jamyang houses a small residential monastic community, so we are unable to accommodate late night hires, loud music, alcohol. There is no smoking on site.

About Jamyang Buddhist Centre
Jamyang Buddhist Centre is a beautiful space located between Elephant and Castle and Kennington; the centre is housed in the grade II listed Old Courthouse and has a unique aesthetic.
The space is one of contemplation and calm, ideal for away days, conferences, classes and meetings, with a variety of spaces to choose from including the Old Courtroom, now a Buddhist temple space, a library and co-working room, a large dry hire space and a courtyard and cafe space.
Every booking includes access to the courtyard, a shared small temple for meditation, a tea, coffee, and biscuits station, and audiovisual equipment.
