The Rutherford has been many things in its time – including a furniture warehouse, chair store, recording studio, film director’s office, and design agency. This illustrious history of use all precedes its current centrality to the evolution of Hoxton Square, which has itself been witness to all sorts of historical happenings, from famous composers calling it home to a position as the playground for artists including Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst.
