Dating back to 1421, the mellow sandstone buildings, ancient stone cloisters and richly appointed rooms are full of character and history.

You and your guests will have exclusive use of the medieval buildings and can wander through the cloisters, secret passageways and hidden courtyard soaking up the unique atmosphere of this haven of tranquillity. The gorgeous time-worn sandstone and sumptuous oak-panelled rooms provide the perfect backdrop for your wedding photographs, and the stunning Baronial Hall will give your event the wow factor.

The grade I listed building dates to 1421 and is one of the oldest in Manchester, making it perfect for history lovers, architecture enthusiasts or those looking for somewhere unique. Our collection of books is used by researchers from around the world and we’re an accredited museum.

Located in the heart of Manchester in the city’s fascinating Medieval Quarter, we’re a short stroll away from rail and Metrolink connections at Victoria Station, and there are plenty of hotels, shops, restaurants, and other cultural attractions on our doorstep.
