Your Guide to Renting Small Wedding Venues in Singapore

One of the main reasons people search for small wedding venues is because they’re looking for a more intimate affair with just close family and friends on the guest list. Starting in the Downtown Core, Singapore’s historic and commercial centre, you’ll find a number of these small but adaptable venues that are perfect for smaller wedding ceremonies and receptions. Located on Straits Boulevard and Hill Street, many of these spaces are restaurants and cafes, where you can easily arrange intimate and comfortable seating plans to maximise the amount of interaction between your guests. Just be sure the restaurant decor suits your taste, as there won’t be much you can do to change it. As an added bonus, there will also be a range of fantastic food and drink packages on offer that will reflect the city’s diverse and delicious food culture.

Elsewhere in the area, you can also book some more exclusive function rooms in stellar locations such as the National Gallery of Singapore and rooftop bars that offer an incredible panoramic view of the city in Raffles Place. These spaces are ideal for maximising the time you spend with your loved ones, offering intimate areas to mingle, with enough space to not feel crowded. Alongside that, being located in the city centre makes it incredibly easy for guests to arrive to and from the wedding and takes away the extra stress of having to plan or lay-on additional transport.

Away from the centre, Sentosa Island is another great location for a small wedding, hosting a number of idyllic beachside venues on Siloso Beach, with their own decks and dining areas. Here you can also take your ceremony onto the sand, with each venue able to set up small seating areas on the beach for something extra unique and peaceful. Each space also offers shelter and terrific catering packages including fresh seafood and ice-cold beverages, making them a versatile space for both small ceremonies and receptions.

Guide on organising a small wedding in Singapore:

Set up the budget – One of the huge advantages of a smaller wedding is the fact that your budget will take you a lot further and allow you to splurge in other areas, such as decoration, catering, and entertainment. However, make sure you spend your money wisely and dedicate a set amount of budget to each part of the wedding plan. Remember to save some extra money in case of an emergency as well.

Plan your guest list – Since you are planning a small wedding, make sure to invite only the most important people for you and your soulmate. The best parties are the ones with your favourite people!

Prepare the to-do list – Making a to-do list will save you stress when preparing for the wedding day. Make sure you divide your plans into time sections, for example, 12 months before the wedding, or 3 weeks before the wedding. Put a tick next to things you have already done. When you have everything written down in one place, you won't have to worry about forgetting anything.

Decide on a seating layout – The most common seating layouts for small weddings are those that feature a long reception table or a  U-shaped arrangement. A long reception table can be a great way to make everyone feel included. It enhances conversations and creates a pleasant atmosphere. U-shaped styling is another great way to encourage conversation among your guests. It provides you with enough room for all of your guests and creates a space for activities such as wedding games and dancing as well!

Contact the venue manager – Contact the venue manager to discuss the terms and conditions. Make sure you go over important questions such as:

  • How far ahead of  the reception can you decorate the hall?
  • How does the cancellation policy work?
  • Does the venue allow external catering?
  • Who can you contact from the venue during the event?
  • Is the venue equipped with air conditioning and/or heating?
  • Can you see a copy of your standard contract?

Prepare a lounge for the guests – The lounge will provide the guests with a relaxation area, somewhere where they can get away from the hustle and bustle of the party.

Still thinking whether you should decide on a small wedding? Here are some of the benefits of throwing a small wedding party:

Intimacy

The reception is all about you, your soulmate and the people you love the most. This is the type of atmosphere that you just cannot get when throwing a big party.

Lower costs and better standard

Small meetings don’t have to be cheap, but for a lower price you can get a higher standard venue.

Less stress

Throwing a small wedding for your closest family and friends can give you a sense of comfort that you won’t get from hiring a large venue. You don’t need to impress anyone, the wedding is all about having fun and quality time.

FAQs about Small Wedding Venues in Singapore

How much does it cost to hire a small wedding venue in Singapore?

Price-wise, per hour rental fees are the most common form of hire in the Downtown Core, with prices starting at S$100 and rising to S$402. How long before the wedding should I book a venue?

This category is then broken down into the intimate wedding, with 50 to 75 guests, and the tiny wedding, for 15 people or less. nice jungle theme decoration and brightly lit room helps to bring out a joyous atmosphere. Made for good background to take lots of photos as well. Venue supervisor was kind enough to help with moving some of the decorations on the tables to make it easier for the placement of catered food.
