Guide to choosing a restaurant for an event

  • Cost - The first thing you should do before you start looking for the ideal place for your event is setting your budget. It will help you narrow down your search and you’ll only be browsing places that fall within your price range. Online platforms such as Tagvenue let you filter venues by your desired price, date, and capacity. If you want to save money, look for restaurants that charge by the hour or offer all-inclusive packages based on per-person prices. And there is one more option: try negotiating with the venue manager! Who knows, you might score a fantastic deal!
  • Capacity - Calculate how many guests you’ll be expecting and how much space you need in order to seat them comfortably. Some restaurants offer private rooms or the option to rent out the entire space, which can be great if you’re hosting a large event. You should also consider the room’s layout. Do you want to seat your guests at round dining tables or would you prefer a u-shaped layout?
  • Accessibility - The location of your chosen restaurant has a massive impact on your event’s success and your guests’ moods. Nobody likes being late or getting lost when they have somewhere to be soon, so make sure the venue will be easy to access for your guests. How? Keep in mind these questions when browsing your options: Is it located near any major roads? Is there heavy traffic? Does the venue provide parking spaces? And, make sure the place is wheelchair accessible and is fully accessible for your guests.
  • Mood - Things like design, lighting, or music all contribute to the restaurant’s overall mood, which can either make or break your event. That’s why we suggest you pick a space whose ambiance will suit your style and the occasion. Luckily for you, the dining scene in Las Vegas caters to all - whether you’re looking for an elegant restaurant or something unique, you’ll be able to find a space that’s just the right fit. Before you finalize your booking, we suggest you organize a viewing of the place - that way, you’ll see how everything looks in real life and get a feel for the place’s atmosphere.
  • Catering - Food is one of the most important elements of almost any event. Decide whether you’re going to choose a set menu or allow your guests to order their own meals a la carte. If you go for a set menu, consider all tastes and include options for even the pickiest of eaters. And before putting together the menu, ask your guests about any dietary restrictions and make sure the restaurant you’ve chosen can cater to all of them. Or perhaps you’d prefer external catering? If that’s the case, see whether your venue allows that and whether you’ll have to pay any extra fees.
  • Time - Pick an off-peak time for your event as some restaurants will offer lower rental costs e.g on weekdays. It will help you save a lot if you’re working with a strict budget. But that’s not all! Booking early not only saves you stress but also ensures you have more choice when it comes to venues and your preferred dates.
  • Staff - It comes as no surprise that people have a massive impact on the success of your event - and it’s not limited to your guests, we also mean the waiters and the venue manager. So when you go to your viewing, pay attention not just to the pleasant interiors and tasty food but also to the wait staff. Are they polite and knowledgeable? Do they have experience in catering events? Don’t be afraid to ask questions! After all, you want to be able to depend on the restaurant’s team and trust that they can deliver the best service.

How far in advance should I rent a private room for my event?

You can obviously do it last minute but keep in mind that you might be left with limited options. Las Vegas is a busy city with many people wanting to celebrate things, so secure your booking as soon as you find the space of your dreams.

Which areas of Las Vegas have the best restaurants?

The Strip is known as the city’s entertainment hub - that’s where you’ll find Caesars Palace, The Bellagio, and The Venetian, to name a few - but that’s not all this area has to offer. It’s also filled with elaborate restaurants where you can enjoy fantastic meals. Fremont East features many independent spots, and if you’re after somewhere that screams art, have a look around The Arts District and the area’s great restaurants and bars serving phenomenal cocktails. And last but not least, head over to Chinatown! If you’re looking for an unforgettable culinary experience far from The Strip, it’s your go-to place, without a doubt.

What types of events can I host in a private room in a restaurant?

Restaurants with private rooms are versatile spaces that can host many types of events. They’re a popular choice for private parties, such as private dinners, birthday celebrations, engagement parties, or anniversaries. But that’s not all! Private rooms work equally well for corporate events, such as business lunches or dinners with your team.

Booked Dugout at Tom's Watch Bar - Las Vegas
5.0
The food was flavorful and so much of it. Drinks weren't overly sweet and beers were so cold. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They accommodated our last minute requests, like creating a last minute dessert tower! The location was perfect with the strip being right there and the live band stage. TV's everywhere to view the games no matter where you were sitting. Price, location, food, staff, drinks, etc. was perfect for our event. We loved everything at Tom's Watch Bar! We would recommend this place to anyone and we plan to come back again in the future!!!
