Rooftop events are becoming increasingly popular, especially for those who want to stand out from the crowd. The unique location can add value to your event and set it apart from others. Rooftops allow guests to experience something new and different from what they would normally see at a regular party or get-together, and they are great for all kinds of occasions, including birthdays, weddings, product launches and more. Rooftops provide plenty of natural light, which makes them suitable for daytime events like lunches or dinners, but the night views are something you can’t find anywhere else. If you want to create an impressive atmosphere at your event, the skyline view is sure to impress your guests and ensure that they have a memorable experience. Here are some of the most popular types of events that can be organized on top of buildings:
Birthday Parties - If your birthday falls on a summer's day then why not celebrate it with a rooftop birthday party? Not only will your guests love being able to enjoy some sunshine, but the rooftop location will make everyone remember it for a long time. You can even hire some musicians or a DJ for live music to make your party more interesting and memorable.
Weddings - Having a rooftop wedding will make the experience unforgettable for both you and your guests. Rooftop weddings are becoming increasingly popular because they're an alternative to traditional outdoor weddings, while still offering a convenient city location. Hosting your wedding on a rooftop is a great way to add some romance to your special day with their stunning views and unique atmosphere. It's the perfect way to welcome your guests into town and get everyone talking about your big day. You could even hire a hot air balloon or helicopter to fly over your venue and start the party early to really use the benefits of the location.
Corporate functions - Corporate events such as a team bonding event or an office away day can be successfully organized in a rooftop venue. The main advantage of organizing a corporate event in such a location is the definite sense of novelty. As most people don't get to spend much time outside during the week, being able to spend some time under the sun can be very refreshing for your staff. An open-air venue creates a comfortable environment for the attendees and makes them feel relaxed. They can enjoy the fresh air and get to know each other better, while still working towards company goals together.
Product launches - Product launches are great opportunities for brands to get their products in the hands of customers and generate some buzz around their launch. A product launch party is a great way for customers to experience the product before it goes on sale, and it gives them the opportunity to share their thoughts with other customers and social media channels. Organizing it on a rooftop will add the extra wow factor to the event, making it memorable for everyone attending.
Engagement Parties - Rooftop venues are also great spots for engagement parties. They offer spectacular views of the city skyline and surrounding cityscape. If you choose a smaller venue, it can also provide you with a special sense of intimacy for your private event. If you decide on a bigger venue, you can invite a larger crowd to have a big celebratory bash. A rooftop venue will also provide you with amazing photo opportunities that will commemorate the event for the years to come.
If you’re still not convinced, here are some of the benefits of hosting your event on a rooftop:
You have options - It’s easy to get lost in the idea of a rooftop venue and think only of rooftops with incredible views. But there are all kinds of rooftops, ranging from industrial buildings to office towers and beyond. You can find one that fits your needs, whether you want something more casual or formal. And really, the more unique rooftop you find the more memorable the event will become!
You can use it as an icebreaker - The location is unique and memorable, which means people will remember where they were when they first met at your event. This can be helpful if you’re trying to encourage networking or mingling among attendees. Plus, it’s just fun for everyone involved.
They offer a beautiful view for guests - Hosting an event on a rooftop gives your guests a chance to see the city in a new light. A rooftop is usually higher up than other venues which means that attendees get to look down on everything below them. This can be especially entertaining if there are fireworks going off in the city at the same time!
They're a great place to take pictures - Rooftops offer great views to take photos of the city or the ocean. As they’re above the streets, they’re quieter and definitely less crowded while still offering an urban setting. You have a lot of light, and photos taken during the golden hour, with the sky as the background, will look just stunning!
Located by the ocean, vibrant San Diego guarantees amazing rooftop views no matter where you go. But if you’re looking for a spot with an urban atmosphere, search for a venue in Downtown San Diego. As a business hub, Downtown will make a great location for a corporate event. Both Old Town and Gaslamp Quarter will satisfy every fan of historical architecture and a rooftop venue will allow you to admire it in all its glory. Head to Coronado if you want a view of both the city skyline and the ocean.
Yes, it’s possible to hire a rooftop venue in San Diego without breaking the bank. When searching for a rooftop venue, look for ones operating on a minimum spend basis. You don’t have to pay for renting the venue, just agree with the management that you and your guests will spend a minimum agreed amount on food and drinks. Another option for a cheaper rooftop venue rental is to find venues that have a BYOB policy. You will have to pay a rental fee, but can bring your own food and/or drinks, which usually comes out cheaper than buying them from the venue.
You should be ready to book your venue five to six weeks in advance, so it’s best to start your search around eight weeks before your scheduled event. This will give you time to search for the options that suit you best and talk to the venue managers about the details of your event. Also, if anything happens and you cannot secure the venue, you will still have plenty of time to search for another location. But even if you decide to start your search last minute - don’t worry, we can give you a hand with that as well!
Whether you can bring your own catering or not depends entirely on the venue you’re interested in. If the venue allows BYO food or beverages then yes, you can bring your own catering. However, an extra corkage or cleaning charge may be added to your rental price, so before you make your final decision make sure to talk to the venue manager about the catering possibilities.
