Dating back to the 1900s, the Atlanta Utility Works was one of the premier industrial businesses that put East Point, Georgia, then a rural suburb of Atlanta, on the map. The site served as a manufacturing plant for farm equipment, fertilizer, and mill machinery from 1901 to the 1970s and had a small foundry on site. Directly adjacent to the train tracks and a historic rail spur going directly through the entire property allowed the Atlanta Utility Works to ship their hand-crafted heavy machinery by locomotive to family farms throughout the country.
In recent times, the abandoned factory was featured in the series “Ozarks” and “Stranger Things” and continues to be popular with the film industry. The site is now being preserved and converted into and farm brewery, taproom, and events space.
