About this space

The Art Yard has become a cultural fixture of Los Angeles; its rotating mural walls feature our city's most vibrant artists, giving events a built-in cool factor and backdrop. The open air venue makes the space available to food trucks, stage production and creative consumer activations.

Note: No amplified music, DJs, musical events, parties, or weddings are allowed due to the proximity of nearby residences and their sensitivity to noise. We have a strict sound policy.

The 7,000 sq. ft. gated commercial Art Yard is semi-private with rotating painted murals on 10’ high perimeter steel walls. It has easy drive-up access with 16’ high truck clearance. The lot measures 44'6" wide X 160' deep, with a 14' wide gate opening. Tivoli lights to create a lovely skylit setting. The Art Yard may be used for outdoor film screenings, photography shoots, food trucks stations, production vehicle docking, production parking, and more.

Host rules

All booking start and end hours should include set up and clean up time.
No tobacco, drugs, or firearms are permitted within the facility whatsoever. No person may smoke or bring contraband inside the facility, nor may any person enter the building with firearms, even if lawfully permitted. Events may not exceed 11:00 PM.
Facility does not have a liquor license and has a BYOB (bring your own beer/alcohol) policy. Beer and/or alcohol shall not be served to anyone under the age of twenty one (21).
"AS-IS" condition: Guest accepts the venue "as is" and shall use facility at their own risk and expense. Guest shall not harm the facility in any way whatsoever by painting, drilling, screwing, creating holes in any surface or fixture, or any other careless or malicious use or activity.
A security deposit is required for all events, from which we will deduct a small fee for wall repair/repaint. The remainder will be immediately refunded.
We reserve the right to collect a cleaning fee which will be determined based on the scope of your event.
Wall touch-up and repair: A minimum fee of $50, plus materials costs, will be charged for any wall touch-up and repairs (see Security). Repairs over one hour will be billed at $50/hr. All touch-up and repair work will be performed by management.
Guest acknowledges the facility is located adjacent to a residential community. The guest, its agents, employees, contractors, invitees, or representatives shall not disturb, annoy, endanger, or inconvenience anyone outside the facility. Amplified music, microphones, or any other sound device shall not be broadcast outside the facility nor shall amplified sound levels inside the facility exceed a reasonable level. Events with exceeding volumes will be required to reduce sound level.
Event insurance may be required.

The 1200 SF pop-up retail/gallery space at Start Los Angeles is located in Historic West Adams and includes stained concrete floors, gallery lighting, one restroom, 13' 5" tall ceilings with exposed rafters, two skylights and front windows (13' feet wide by 7' tall) facing the sidewalk. The front windows are covered on the inside with opaque window film (removable for an additional fee).

There is a rear passage door that leads to the shared parking lot for easy loading and unloading. The gallery has an interior roll-up door that opens to Alibi Coffee to allow, if desired, a mingling of coffee shop customers for greater retail pop-up exposure during coffee shop hours. The front entrance opens to a large room 38' long X 20' wide with a rear area that measures 16' long X 20' wide. In the right corner is a single restroom. Electrical is a new 100 AMP service. Wifi on site. Utilities are included. Brand New A/C and heat system.

Previous clients include Nike (Air Max Day), New Balance, Volcom, Umbro, FTP, MLS, Heineken, several small brand fashion launches, and art gallery shows.
