About this space

The Love Shack is a design showroom, photographic location, small event space, and live-in show home in New York City.

An experiment in the possibilities of loft living, surreality and commercial space, Alexander and Brittany Love designed and built two life-size dollhouses in an ex-industrial building in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Almost every piece of furniture or lighting you see is an original design or restored and modified from it’s original form. Some pieces are available for sale, for example our unique lighting designs and The Library Chair.

Host rules

Renter must book all time needed in the space, from setup to cleanup. Overtime is strict and will be charged at $180 per half hour or part thereof.

$750-$1000 security deposit (varies by type of rental) will be held separately and refunded the next business day following the event event, pending no damages or overtime. The security deposit is to be paid to the owner directly a week in advance of the rental.

No use of glitter or decorations that shed glitter.

No use of confetti.

No smoking of any kind indoors. Smoking permitted in the garden only.

The house speakers may be connected to a phone or computer only. DJs are permitted but must bring and use their own equipment.

Absolutely no use of smoke, haze, mist or fog machines.

Care to be taken of the interior and furniture.

By the finish time, all items brought in must be removed from location and all trash bagged up in the garden, any furniture or objects to be repositioned as found. Recycling must be separated into the clear recycling bags provided under the kitchen sink to avoid additional trash handling fee.

A truly one-of-a-kind space in NYC. Think Alice in Wonder meets Oscar Wilde (the bar in Midtown) set in a Victorian era interior while the outside is undeniably Brooklyn. Brittyan was very communicative throughout the entire process and Paula was very professional. My guests and I had a wonderful time at the venue.

Full working domestic kitchen with fridge/freezer (no microwave.)

Seating around the space for at least 24.

We have x2 Alen Breathesmart Air Purifiers in the main space and an Airthereal unit in the bathroom all running 24/7, eliminating allergens and potentially Covid
