Velvet Brooklyn

The venue was amazing! I chose Velvet Brooklyn because my partner and I love speakeasies, and the pictures online really captured that vibe. We are both from the South and currently live in upstate New York for work. Initially, I wanted to propose on a rooftop in NYC, as we love the city and have shared many of our most treasured memories there. However, after discovering Velvet Brooklyn, I realized this space held more meaning for us. No matter where we travel, we always look for a speakeasy. Enjoying a nice evening at a speakeasy, either before or after dinner, is a tradition we maintain in every city we visit. Therefore, Velvet Brooklyn checked all the boxes for us. I also wanted a place where I could propose and have an intimate engagement celebration immediately afterward. There would be six children between the ages of 11 and 16 present (all flew in with their parents from as far as Houston, TX, Memphis, TN, and Tahlequah, OK to celebrate with us), and I was grateful that Velvet Brooklyn made an exception to their no-children policy so that they could attend. On the day of the event, guests arrived at 4 p.m. to begin decorating. The venue allowed us in an hour before the event started, which was fantastic! We arrived early to set up, and the space was just as advertised—clean and welcoming, with fantastic staff. We ordered catering and I had pre-arranged a bar tab for my guests. Everything went smoothly, and the guests loved the food, especially the spinach and artichoke dip and wings. Since we had dinner reservations afterward, I didn't order too much food, but the chicken and cheese empanadas were also a hit. The bartenders were personable and helped make the event special. Lastly, Phil, the manager, was a pleasure to work with. He was very responsive and answered all my questions, even when I asked the same things repeatedly. I appreciated his patience as my nerves took over and I second-guessed every little detail, from the food to the decorations. Phil never made me feel like I was inconveniencing him, which I greatly appreciated. He even came over toward the end of the event to congratulate us, which I found to be very kind. I would highly recommend Velvet Brooklyn for your next event. The space alone was worth the cost, but the staff, food, and drinks made Velvet Brooklyn an unbelievable value. I've been thinking about how I can have another event there in the future!

Celebrated my 30th birthday and Velvet Brooklyn was perfect for an intimate celebration. Comfortable, spacious, clean, excellent staff and services. Planned ahead of time, and had a great relaxing experience, worry-free. Would highly recommended to anyone looking for a great festive evening.
