About Tato
Well...Tato comes to you by way of a sweet Mexican boy born in the Bayview district of San Francisco in 2005.

His mother fell in love with his father’s culture and the incredible food served at every family table and wanted to create a restaurant in homage to their roots and family in Mexico City.

The tradition of this food, the source of our passion, and our commitment to those we serve is what we are about. We use locally sourced ingredients to make the recipes of Tato's sweet Abuelita (grandmother)- the same recipes she created in Mexico City and shared with us years ago in San Francisco. We've added new ideas along the way, and delicious things discovered in our travels, combined with Abuelita's techniques, have shaped the menu at Tato.

Tato the restaurant, just like TATO the boy, is about many things, but most of all it's about family and community and the time-honored tradition of bringing people together by way of good food, good times, and good conversation.
